Our experience with bricklayers (brickies)

Bricklayers or Brickies as they are more commonly known require specialist Insurance advice by an experienced Client Manager who understands your Trade. Atlantic Insurance has been looking after Bricklayers for many years and our experienced Client Managers can provide specialist advice on all aspects of your Insurance Program.

What many Bricklayers do not know is that not all Public Liability Insurance Policies provide the same level of cover with many policies significantly reducing cover via endorsements for working at height, around underground services and in some cases when subcontractors are used.

Our experienced Client Managers will be able to clearly explain any endorsements leading to a reduction in cover and provide solutions with less onerous policy conditions if required. Speak with us today.

Brickies have an obvious need for Public Liability cover which will provide coverage for Property Damage and Bodily Injury following negligence however cover for Tools and Equipment and Personal Accident and Illness are both big considerations. If your Concrete Mixer, Tools and Equipment were stolen a Tools / Equipment Policy could provide coverage to replace these items. Likewise, your physical ability to undertake the manual work required to lay bricks is what enables you to earn an income. An Accident and Illness Policy can provide coverage to protect your income in the event of an Accident or Illness. Bricklayers (brickies) risk – our observations

Bricklayers have an obvious need for Public Liability coverage however the application of a Personal Accident and Illness Policy is often misunderstood. Many General Insurance products provide high weekly benefits for Income however are then adjusted at claim time when proof of income is requested. Atlantic Insurance works closely with an insurer who can provide up to a $1,300 weekly benefit at an agreed value with no proof of income required. Our experienced Client Managers will be able to explain the options available further following a conversation and needs analysis. (please note the above does not consider your individual needs or financial situation and may not suit your personal objectives or circumstances. For full details of the terms, conditions and limitations before making any decision about whether to proceed with the cover, we will refer you to the policy wordings and/or Product Disclosure Statements available on our website or upon request)

Current claims landscape

Careful consideration needs to be given to the limit of indemnity selected for Public and Products Liability Policies. Bricklayers have a Products Liability exposure once work has been completed and a claim may not occur for many years. A Policy limit of $5,000,000 or $10,000,000 may no longer be adequate and higher limits should be considered. Our experienced Client Managers can provide multiple Policy Limit options to enable you to make an informed decision.
