Mark commenced his Insurance Broking career at Atlantic in the year 2000 and before long he was drawn into challenges and career opportunities that an International Broker represented. Mark spent time with Willis in Melbourne and Sydney, getting exposure to clients in varying industries. He returned to Melbourne where he spent time with a mid-tier broker. This move reinforced his enthusiasm for working alongside business owners and decision makers where he knew he’d be a positive influence and add real value to clients. In 2010 Mark re-joined Atlantic as a director to work alongside his father Graeme. Mark enjoys working with a diverse group of clients with varied and quite often complex insurance requirements. Over time Mark has developed a strong Risk Management focus. Mark’s strength lies in identifying and understanding the Insurance needs of Businesses and individuals and being able to carefully guide them and assist in making informed decisions in relation to their risk through decision making process. Creating a culture within the next generation of Brokers that can develop and progress their careers with Atlantic Insurance, is especially rewarding for Mark.

Aligning Yourself with the Right Broker

For Aged Care Facilities, selecting the right Broker is essential to ensure comprehensive coverage, risk management, and personalised support from experts that truly understand your insurance requirements.

Atlantic Insurance has been providing reliable Aged Care Insurance to facilities since 1995. Learn more about why you should carefully consider which Insurance Broker to align yourself with, the right questions to ask yourself, and how Atlantic may be the right fit for your facility.

Why your Aged Care Insurer matters

Your Aged Care Insurer is extremely important, providing you with the necessary coverage to ensure your facility is prepared to face relevant industry risks.

While a good Broker will focus on ensuring adequate coverage specific to your Insurance Cover needs and budget, poor support from Brokers may mean you are left with a lack of expertise, limited and impersonal options, as well as inadequate risk assessment. As a result, you may end up spending more due to improper cover that does not protect against the main risks you face.

It is important that claims are handled well, with little difficulty receiving a timely resolution. A good Insurance Advisor will offer guidance and clarity during the claim process and ensure that settlement is reached as soon as possible to minimise business interruption and impact on the facility, its staff and its residents.

Your provider should have your best interests at heart, and offer professional advice and quality coverage that is tailored to your specific needs and budget.

5 questions to ask when selecting your Broker

Consider the following questions when approaching a Broker to secure quotes and arrange the placement of your Insurance program.

  1. Does the Broker have the relevant background and experience to help you with risk identification and to arrange adequate placement?
  2. Does the Broker look after other Aged Care providers?
  3. Do they have the staff and resources necessary to manage all aspects of your Insurance program including placement, ongoing administration, remarketing and claim management?
  4. The impact on residents should be at the forefront of their mind. Do they have access to experts in the Aged Care space who understand the importance of instant remediation, restoration and rectification in the case of a claim?
  5. Can they make introductions to professionals who will ensure you have Insurance valuations of your assets on file and up to date, with these reflected within your Insurance Program?
